Without a shadow of doubt, eBay is the world's foremost successful online trading platform. All across the world, eBay is well known, and everybody knows what it's used for. Although other companies have tried valiantly to compete with eBay, it is an internet heavyweight which will not be unseated.
Beginning in the mid-1990s as AuctionWeb – an online auction house – it is now worth more than $36 billion, employs over 12,000 people and turned over almost $9 billion in 2017. It is not surprising, considering that at least $2,000 worth of transactions take place on eBay every second.
eBay has consistently grown from strength-to-strength and part of its strong growth is contributable to eBay's wide range of deals and promotions which are often offered on the website.
On eBay, you can find pretty much anything you could ever need to buy. Collectibles are very popular, but the most commonly purchased items are television sets, smartphones, desktop computers, office supplies and clothing items. Some of the platform's most popular items – such as shoes – sell every few seconds.
eBay is definitely the online marketplace to look for and find that one unique product you have been searching everywhere for.
Some people think that eBay is all based on their auction system, but that is simply not the case. Over the years, it has expanded its features and over 80% of sellers place their items for sale through the fixed price 'Buy It Now' feature which lets you buy the item for a listed price.
There are lots of unique items listed on eBay, some of the more interesting things sold have been –
