SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING VS SEO
When a person plans to make online business, he has many things to consider about. Online business might give you infinite financial opportunities. However, it is necessary to remember that this sphere is highly competitive. Thus, you have to be the best in your industry in order to succeed in the online area. All of us are partly inspired by the success of famous online entrepreneurs and bloggers. From aside, it seems to be extremely easy to make tons of money online. However, is it really so easy?
I have been in the online industry for many years. Let me tell you that there are loads of ways to make money online; however, you need to work very hard in order to succeed in any of them. Selling means money-making. If you do not sell anything, you won’t have any profit. This is the rule well-known by everyone. If you wish to make money blogging, you have to sell something. You might sell your personal products or you may be involved in affiliate marketing. Advertising services is another popular way to monetize a blog. It does not matter what monetization option you choose, there is one thing needed to be mentioned before you start making money from your blog. It is impossible to monetize any types of web resources if they have no enough web traffic. Traffic is the most important factor that comes when we start talking about making money online. All online entrepreneurs are eager to have huge web traffic in order to monetize their websites.
There are many ways to drive web traffic to your website. However, two of them are the most used and popular. They are Social Media Marketing and SEO. This blog is only two months old, and therefore, I cannot show off by the amount of traffic my website gets. To be honest with you, all web traffic I receive, come from social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google +, StumbleUpon, and other. Search engines regard my blog as a baby, and consequently, I cannot rely on SEO right now.
In this post, I am going to compare Social Media Marketing with SEO. These two ways of driving web traffic are the best that exist on the Internet. Let us decide which one of them is more appropriate and effective for your business.
THE QUALITY OF TRAFFIC
There is no doubt, Social Media Marketing and SEO will provide you different types of traffic. What does the quality of traffic mean? The quality of traffic is determined by the level and quality of conversions this traffic brings to your business. There is not benefit from the traffic that does not give you any conversions. If you need visitors who do not but anything on your website or on the websites of your affiliate partners, you may send bots to your blog. Of course, this is a ridiculous idea. Web traffic should bring you financial income; therefore, the quality of web traffic is crucial for the success of your online business.
Social Media Marketing will drive messy traffic to your blog. The visitors who come to your blog from social networks pay simple interest to the content of your blog. They do not intend to buy something. Most of them have spotted your ad or a shared post, and further, they clicked on it. If you are a lucky guy, some of these visitors will read your post till the end, but most of them won’t do that. They will merely skip the text, and forget about your blog. These visitors will return back to their Facebook or Twitter pages and continue their surfing. To be honest, I am not a fan of this type of traffic.
Web traffic from search engines gives you more targeted and serious traffic. If a person is looking for something on Google, Yahoo, or other search engines, that means that he has a high interest. The person is interested to find the answer to his question. Thus, we can conclude that the visitors driven to your blog from SEO are not occasional. This type of traffic can bring you good conversions.
Finally, I can say that enhancing your SEO will give you more conversational and profitable web traffic. If the quality of web traffic is your first concern, I would suggest you web traffic from SEO.
REGULARITY OF WEB TRAFFIC
Web traffic from Social Media Marketing comes to your blog as long as you dedicate your time and share your posts. As soon as you stop doing that, you will stop receiving visitors from social networks. Of course, you might use different plugins and online service that will share your posts even when you are online, however, these tools are effective to some extent. After some time, they will stop working. Social Media Marketing means much more than simply sharing your posts on Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Linkedin, StumbleUpon, and other social networks. Running expensive ad campaigns is one of the most parts of Social Media Marketing. Web traffic from Social Media Marketing is not regular. To get some visitors from social networks, you will have to work very hard. A blogger needs much time to write his posts. If you want to dedicate your time to Social Media Marketing, be ready to choose between writing your posts and SMM. You won’t be able to do both things at the same time.
Web traffic from SEO is more regular. I do not deny the fact that you may lose your SEO traffic if some of SE algorithms change. However, while comparing with the traffic from SMM, SEO traffic seems to be more regular and reliable. Once you have configured your blog’s SEO, you will start receiving traffic from different search engines.
Web traffic from SEO is definitely more regular than the traffic you will receive from Social Media Marketing. Additionally, SEO does not require your full-time participation.
If you manually or automatically share your posts on different social networks, it may be not cost you even a single cent. However, do not forget about the time you spend in order to carry out your Social Media Marketing campaigns. Running diverse ad campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks may be very expensive. Facebook has auction type ad campaigns. Thus, if you do not pay more, your campaigns won’t be activated. I hate these types of ad campaigns. They require much money and give you pity results.
Enhancing your website for search engines will be less expensive for you. You can do most part of SEO yourself. You do not necessarily need to hire an SEO company in order to improve your rankings. However, if you want to have better results, good SEO specialists will be very helpful for you.
Finally, if you are choosing between Social Media Marketing and SEO, I would highly recommend you to spend your time, efforts, and money on SEO. Web traffic from referred through search engines is more conversational and regular. Moreover, good SEO work will save your time.
For best results, I would like to recommend using both methods to drive tons of web traffic to your blog.
