The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene

The 48 Laws of Power by Robert GreeneThere are people for whom power is a goal in itself. Others want power to get access to financial resources. For other people, power doesn’t mean anything. I belong to the last group of people who are indifferent towards power. Nevertheless, if you want to become powerful, ‘The 48 Laws of Power’ by Robert Greene is an excellent book that will provide you with the most effective tips and insights on how to become powerful.

Robert Greene is an internationally famous author of several bestselling books. ‘The 48 Laws of Power’ is a handbook for those people who want to be powerful. Be it professional power, political power, power in your family, or anywhere else, the book talks about power in general terms. In this book, Robert Greene uses his signature writing style. In the beginning, he studies and analyzes different people, and then, he derives specific rules to gain and retain power. Loads of very famous historic figures are mentioned in the book.

I bought this book in 2010. I was then only 19 years old, and I was fascinated by powerful people. Those days, when I was very young, power seemed beautiful and appealing to me. Nowadays, I have no interest in power. For me, freedom is the main priority. ‘The 48 Laws of Power’ is a very cynical book. It resembles the work of Machiavelli. The main idea of this book is – ‘Get power and retain it at all costs’. The author’s conclusions, ideas, and suggested strategies fully ignore all moral, cultural, and religious codes. Those days, when I was still very green, I admired this work. Nowadays, it is meaningless for me since I don’t want power.

If you want to be powerful, then, this book will surely help you in achieving your goals. It is entertaining, informative, and beneficial. The book includes elements of history, sociology, politics, and psychology. This all-encompassing work will let you avoid mistakes in your professional career. Anyway, power can be good if you use it to spread justice. Hence, I would be very happy is good people gain more power.
