the Internet

the InternetA few hours ago, I wrote a good article describing the reasons why I love the Internet. During my work on that blog post, a few good ideas came to my mind. I decided to write a cycle of posts narrating about positive and negative sides of the cyberspace. When I consider about the Internet, I realize that the network has simplified a lot of things in our life. This is one of the major benefits of the Internet. The Web makes our life simpler. It has positively influenced all spheres of our life. Of course, the Internet is not free of disadvantages and negative sides. However, its positive sides are truly incredible. When you realize how beneficial the Internet is, you will forget about its negative impact.

I have been actively using the Internet for more than 10 years. I can say that the network made me more educative, smarter, more intelligent, and of course, more open-minded. Secondly, the Internet opened a lot of new opportunities for me. What is more, the Internet simplified my life. I am not the only one who has already felt some of the positive effects of the Internet. The Web made our life simpler and more comfortable. Here are some of the things that were changed by the come of the Internet.

A few decades ago we had to wait for months until we see a message from our relatives, families, friends, and other people. Post mailing was requiring a lot of time. Of course, offline mailing still exists in some official government spheres. However, today, 99% of mailings are carried out online. We call it emailing (electronic mailing).

Nowadays, we do not have to wait for weeks and months to see a message from a person. Postmen do not need to spend their time by spreading mails. Of course, postmen still exist. However, the volume of their work has seriously decreased by the come of the Internet.

A few decades ago, a person had the only option to make business. It was offline types of commerce. Thus, people had to walk away from their homes in order to make some money. It was a tough time for introverts. That time, there were no such professions as bloggers, online entrepreneurs, SEO specialists, online traders, freelancers, and other types of online businessmen. A person had very limited options to choose from.

Today, the Internet made our life more convenient. With the come of the Internet, online business became possible. Nowadays, we can make money even if we do not leave our homes. A laptop and the Internet are the only things you need to make money in the 21st century. Thus, the Internet saves a lot of our time and energy. The Internet changed the way we make business. Today, online sphere is considered to be the most profitable arena for making business.

A few dozens of years ago, we were severely restricted by our current geographical borders. These limitations affected all spheres of our life. Shopping was one of them. In the beginning and in the midst of the 20th century, we were able to buy products that were sold in our city. We did not even know about the items that were sold abroad. If you were planning to make a global shopping, the only thing you was able to do was to travel. While visiting foreign countries, you were able to buy foreign products. Fashion and branding were not so widely spread those times. Thus, fans of shopping were seriously restricted.

Today, the Internet gives a real paradise to shoppers. With the help of the Internet, you can buy products that are sold in remote regions of the world. The only thing you need to do is to choose your preferred item and make a payment. PayPal, Skrill, Amazon Payments, or credit card payments are some of the most popular ways to make online purchases. In some of my previous articles, I have said that I gave up offline shopping. Last time, I was truly tired by visiting different boutiques and stores. Therefore, I decided to give up offline shopping. I am absolutely satisfied with my choice. Online shopping gives me everything I need. I am a fan of exclusive and elite things. Some of the rarest things are sold only on the Internet. For this reason, I prefer online shopping.

Do you remember the times when there were no cell phones, Skype, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Google Hangouts, and other online communication tools? I perfectly remember those days. I was the first in my city who had a cell phone in the beginning of 90th. I still remember that cell phone. It was Nokia 3310. Even though some simple cell phones were available, communication was very expensive. Therefore, only rich people could comfortably use cell phones. Do you remember those days when you needed to use IP telephony in order to call abroad? I remember those days. International communication was very costly. You could not phone abroad by using your stationary phone. It could cost you hundreds of dollars for a few seconds of an international conversation. The same cost would be if you used a cell phone. Thus, our communication was limited.

Today, the Internet simplified everything. Communication became very convenient and easy. It does not even cost you a cent to make a video chat with someone who is situated thousands of km away from you. By the help of such online applications as WhatsApp, Skype, Viber, IMO, and others, international communication is absolutely free nowadays. The only thing you need is your phone, a laptop, a tablet, or a PC, and Wi-Fi connection. These few things make our communication available.

In the nearest past, we had a few sources of information and knowledge. They were books, journals, magazines, and newspapers. Visiting different lectures was another way to obtain some useful knowledge. Traveling for knowledge was a usual thing. Sometimes, a person was living in a place with no scientists, specialists, and other knowledgeable individuals. Hence, knowledge and information were unavailable for him. For this reason, people were traveling for the sake of knowledge. Maybe it was interesting and exciting. I also have traveled for knowledge. To obtain new knowledge, I even visited the continent of Africa. Thus, without the Internet, it was very difficult to obtain new knowledge. Those times, books were more precious than gold.

Today, the Internet is full of all types of data, information, and knowledge. Thousands of online courses are carried our every day in the cyberspace. Millions of bloggers share their knowledge for absolutely free on their blogs. The Internet is full of knowledge. Whether you want to learn some black magic tricks or you wish to study the Arabic language, the cyberspace is capable of providing you with all the necessary knowledge. By the come of the Internet, the process of learning became simpler and more convenient.

Several decades ago, there were only a few sources of information. They were newspapers, magazines, and journals. Thus, information was not spreading with a tremendously huge speed as we see it today. It was requiring a few days for news to be known around the whole world.

Today, we can learn about the things happening in the world in real time. There are millions of live news broadcasts on the Internet. Hence, we do not need to wait for hours or even days to hear about some news. The Internet spreads all types of information with a devilishly prompt speed. The Internet made it very easy for us to obtain new information in the fastest and the most comfortable for us way.

Without the Internet, people had a single way to become famous. This tool was television. A person needed to appear on TV in order to become famous and well-known. It is clear that only a small minority of people had this opportunity. You had to be an actor, a singer, or a politician to appear on TV. Simple people had no chances to be recognized and become famous.

Today, almost everyone can become internationally famous by the help of the Internet. There are thousands of online entrepreneurs and bloggers who are already famous for the assistance of their online activities. The Internet gives everyone a good chance to become very famous in a matter of a few minutes or even seconds. The only thing you will have to do is to create a huge buzz around your personality on the Internet. Thus, the Internet made the process of becoming famous very easy and convenient.

There are loads of other things that were simplified by the help of the Internet. Of course, I do not intend to describe all of them. I always strive not to make my articles too long. Huge volumes of information will easily exhaust you. Therefore, I try to put a lot of meaning in the smallest amount of words and sentences. The Internet is the greatest invention of the 20th century. Moreover, I can confidently say that the Internet is the most useful and helpful tool of the 21st century. I am very happy to live in the age of the Internet.
